Dow Trends Up as Nasdaq Attempts Rebound

Stock indices are on the rise this morning, with the Dow trending slightly up and the Nasdaq Composite attempting to swing back after yesterdays losses.

The Dow Jones rose 177 points at the opening bell up to 31,972 (+0.53%). The S&P 500 Index continued its trend from yesterday, gaining 53 points this morning up to 3,874 (+1.4%).

After seeing losses for its third straight day yesterday, the Nasdaq is up 368 points this morning to 12,978 (+2.93%) as tech stocks rally. Apple (AAPL) saw an increase of $3.51 per share at market open (+3.18%), quelling some fear investors had that the stock would fall into a bearish market. Amazon (AMZN) is up $93 to $3,045 a share, with Nvidia (NVDA) rallying hard, up $28 to $492 this morning (+6.12%).

Following suit, Bitcoin has jumped to $54,585, with investors predicting that its value will continue to climb in the coming days. Other cryptocurrencies are on the rise this morning, with Ethereum up $40 to $1,831 (+2.28%) and Litecoin up $10 to $199 (+5.49%).

Foreign markets continued their moderate climbs made on Monday, with the Stoxx 600 Europe up 2.79 to 420 (+0.67%). London’s FTSE 100 is up slightly this morning by 9.55 to 6,728 (+0.12%), and the DAX rising a touch more to 14,445 (+0.45%).

Asian markets were a mixed bag, with Shanghai’s Composite falling 62 points to rest at 3,359.29 (-1.82%). Hong Kong’s Hang Sang Index (HSI) was trending in the opposite direction, up 232 points to 28,773 (+0.81%). Japan’s Nikkei had the most impressive gains of the day, up 284 points to 29,027 (+0.99%).
