Hundreds of students took to the streets to restart the weekly Tuesday protests that were suspended due to the coronavirus.
The demonstrators were spurred on by the reappearance of the Hirak pro-democracy movement on the streets.
The students were seen hoisting a banner that said “We don’t go home until the demand of Hirak are met,” while chanting “Civilian state and not a military state.”
Security forces blocked off some streets with their vans as demonstrators moved through the winding streets at the bottom of Casbah whilst heading to the central post office, Hirak’s traditional rallying point.
The demonstrations have remained peaceful and no incidents have been reported.
