Firefighters Rescue Fishermen Floating on Ice in Illinois

Firefighters rescued two fishermen stranded on a broken piece of ice in Rockford, Illinois, on March 1. 

Monday afternoon, two fishermen were left stranded after the sheet of ice they were fishing on fractured and floated off into the Rock River. 

According to Rockford fire officials, an individual called 911 upon noticing two men floating on a mattress. Divers were able to boat towards the fishermen and safely return them to shore. 

Paramedics evaluated the pair as a precaution, but neither man suffered any injuries.
