Khashoggi’s Fiancée says Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Must Face Justice “Without Delay”

Slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, has demanded that Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman be “punished without delay,” in a statement on released Monday.

This, following the release of a US intelligence report which found that the crown prince approved an operation to murder Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

“It is essential that the Crown Prince, who ordered the brutal murder of a blameless and innocent person, should be punished without delay,” she said in a statement posted on Twitter Monday.

She held that “there is no longer any political legitimacy for the Crown Prince”, following the report.

“If the Crown Prince is not punished, it will forever signal that the main culprit can get away with murder which will endanger us all and be a stain on our humanity,” Cengiz added.

The US intelligence report implicated Mohammed bin Salman, and 21 others, in the murder of Khashoggi.

Meanwhile, the White House maintained that it will not sanction foreign leaders.

“That is what diplomacy looks like. That is what a complicated global engagement looks like and we’ve made no secret and have been clear that we are going to hold them accountable on the global stage,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told CNN in an interview.

“Starting with the Biden administration, it is vital for all world leaders to ask themselves if they are prepared to shake hands with a person whose culpability as a murderer has been proven, but not yet punished,” Cengiz held.
