Cummins Recalls Diesel Engines Due to Potential Safety Risk

Cummins recalled 251 X15 diesel engines, part number D103109BX03 due to potential safety risk.

The capscrews that are attached to the flywheel and the crankshaft may have been improperly torqued, allowing the flywheel to potentially detach.

A detached flywheel can cause loss of drive power, increasing the risk of injury or even death during a crash.

Additionally, driveline pieces may be ejected from the engine compartment, increasing the risk of injury.

Cummins will notify owners, while dealers will inspect for possible damage and repair any damage found, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin March 29, 2021.

There have been no reported incidents to date.
