Fire Destroys Shaquille O’Neal’s Atlanta Krispy Kreme Donut Shop

The historic Krispy Kreme donut shop owned by basketball star Shaquille O’Neal has been destroyed after a fire on Wednesday morning.

Two store workers present that evening said they smelled smoke around 12:45 AM, at which point they called 911. Neither of the store workers were injured in the fire.

35 firefighters worked to contain the blaze, with the store sustaining heavy damages. A spokesman from Atlanta Fire Rescue Department said that the shop was likely a total loss.

The store is located on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia and was purchased Shaq in 2016 when he became a spokesperson for the donut company.

This Krispy Kreme was beloved by the community, with the store having allegedly donated 150 dozen donuts to Atlanta churches during the funeral of Martin Luther King Jr.

Shaq posted a video of the blaze to Instagram, saying that he hoped nobody was hurt and that “they would return as strong as ever”.
