U.S. Coast Guard Rescues Three Cubans Stranded for a Month on Uninhabited Bahamian Island

On Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men and a woman from Anguilla Cay, an uninhabited island in the Bahamas.

The trio had been stuck on the island for 33 days after their boat capsized.

A Coast Guard crew found them while on a routine patrol of the area on Monday, but couldn’t complete the rescue due to the weather.

The rescuers however, dropped food and water to the trio who had been surviving on coconuts, conch, and rats.

The rescue took place within 30 minutes and the three were taken to the Lower Keys Medical Center in Key west. Examinations showed that they were fatigued and dehydrated but there were no signs of injury.
