The Arab Coalition has confirmed that Iran-backed Houthi rebels targeted the Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia which caused a commercial aircraft to catch fire.
The Arab Coalition said, “Attempting to target Abha airport and threatening civilian travelers is a war crime. We are taking all necessary measures to protect civilians from the threats of the Houthis.”
State television showed the damaged part of a FlyADeal aircraft which caught fire, but no injuries were reported.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack with military spokesperson Yehia Sarea saying, “This targeting comes in response to the continued aerial bombardment and the brutal siege of our country.”
The coalition earlier reported that they had intercepted and destroyed two drones launched by the Houthi rebels.
