Ocean Beauty Seafood Recalls Salmon Fillets due to Undeclared Allergen

Ocean Beauty Seafood LLC of Seattle, WA recalled 8450 packages of Publix brand Parmesan-Crusted Wild Alaskan Salmon Fillets due to an undeclared allergen.

The packaging of the recalled product has failed to indicate the presence of soy. People who are allergic to soy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled trail mix.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a person experiencing an allergic reaction may experience hives, itching or eczema, swelling of the lips, face, tongue and throat, nasal congestion, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting and dizziness.

The recall was initiated after they discovered that the packaging did not indicate the presence of soy. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by an incident whereby inclusion of soy occurred during the sample inspection process.

The recalled product was distributed in Florida and Georgia.

Ocean Beauty Seafood advised customers who bought the product and have a soy allergy to not consume it and to return the product to the place of sale for a full refund.

There have been no reported illnesses thus far.
