MTV Africa Music Awards Called Off

Organizers of the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards announced on Thursday that the Award has been postponed. The awards ceremony which is popularly known as MAMAs was supposed to hold in Uganda on February 20.

After South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, Uganda was set to be the first nation to host this annual event.

On their twitter account MTV Base said “We are postponing the 2021 MTV Music Awards. We will keep fans updated as we have more news”.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event, this year’s edition was set to be live streamed. The event was to be virtually hosted by Dj Khaled with the programs set to air across the globe. 

The MTV Africa Music Awards has over the years recognized budding talents of musicians, achievers and other personalities from across Africa,including Tiwa Savage, 2face Idibia, Clarence Peters, Flavor, Gangs of Ballet, Anselmo Ralph amongst others
