Daimler Trucks North America Recalls Vehicles with Certain Steering Arm Due to Potential Safety Risk

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) recalled 133 model year 2021 Western Star 4700s & 5700s, Freightliner Business Class M2s, Cascadias, and Custom Chassis XC Chassis due to potential safety risk.

On certain vehicles, one of the six brake caliper mounting bolts on the driver side steer axle may have been incorrectly tightened.

The loose bolt could potentially result in the other caliper bolts loosening.

Insufficiently tightened bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate, resulting in reduced brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.

DTNA will notify owners, while dealers will inspect and repair, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin March 19, 2021.

There have been no reported incidents thus far.
