Kuwait Orders Shop Closures, Bans Non-Citizen Entry on COVID Fears

Kuwait will restrict entry for all non-citizens, lasting two weeks starting Sunday, to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Kuwaiti cabinet, meanwhile exempts immediate relatives of citizens from the measures, along with domestic workers traveling with them.

Said exempted individuals would still be subject to quarantine upon arrival in the state.

In addition to restricted entry, officials have also ordered shops to close at 8 pm, except for essential ones such as supermarkets and pharmacies.

On Thursday, Kuwait recorded a surge in cases totaling to 167,410 cases of the coronavirus, with an additional 756 on Wednesday, as deaths rose to 961.
