Yamaha Motor Corporation Recalls Motorcycles due to Potential Safety Risk

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA recalled 2,285 model year 2016-2020 Yamaha FJR13A and FJR13AE motorcycles due to potential safety risk.

The second gear of the transmission can crack and break under high speed loads.

A broken gear can cause the transmission and rear wheel to lock which could cause a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Yamaha Motor Corporation advises customers to not use their motorcycle until the repairs have been performed.

The company will notify owners while dealers will inspect and reprogram the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and replace the main axle and drive axle assemblies free of charge.

The recall was expected to begin January 13, 2021.

There have been no reported.incidents to date.
