A fire broke out in a hospital in Romania treating Covid-19 patients, which killed five, officials said on Friday.
There were five patients who died in the Matei Bals hospital in Bucharest, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The responders found the first three already dead, while a fourth died during resuscitation. Later, authorities found the fifth victim in a bathroom.
Raed Arafat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, while the investigation is ongoing.
“What I can tell you is that we do not know the cause at this time…I expect the Prosecutor’s Office and specialists to come up with the definition of the cause, how the fire started, how it spread, how the fire took place,” Arafat said.
Arafat also reported that 102 others were evacuated.
This, following the fire which broke out at the intensive care unit of a hospital also treating coronavirus patients in the city of Piatra Neamt, on November which killed 10 people.
