Indonesia’s Mount Merapi Erupts Again, Spews Lava and Ash

Indonesia’s Mount Merapi has erupted and spewed a long river of lava down the mountainside and emitted a large cloud of smoke.

No one was reported killed or injured and evacuations have been ordered 5km around the mountain.

The volcano already erupted clouds of ash and gas weeks before and was placed on high alert.

Hanik Humaida of the local Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center said the volcano has spewed record amounts of lava.

Preparations are currently being made to evacuate more residents near the crater if volcanic activity intensifies.
