Explosion Reported in Amsterdam as Anti-Lockdown Protests Continue

Dutch Anti-Lockdown protesters have blown up a van in an Amsterdam suburb as demonstrations continued.

A video circulated on social media has shown a van parked in the Amsterdam suburb of Osdorp emitting plumes of smoke before it exploded into a large ball of flame.

The van was reportedly targeted by the protesters with Molotov cocktails and improvised explosives.

There were no reports of any casualties from the explosion and nobody appeared to be in the immediate vicinity of the explosion when it was filmed.

Aside from the van, Dutch police have reported that many vehicles around the country were also targeted and burned by protesters.

Most of the rioting was reported in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem, and Den Bosch.

It is the fourth night that violent demonstrations were held in the Netherlands since the new Lockdown measures were announced over the weekend.

The Dutch government has not yet given a statement on whether they mulled lifting the lockdown.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the Netherlands has 970,000 cases with an almost 14,000 death toll as of January 26, 2021.
