Bendix Recalls Brake Lights due to Potential Safety Risk

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems recalled 1,701 SL-4 Brake Light Pressure switches with part numbers K101993, K101996, K108141, and K108142 manufactured between December 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020 due to potential health risk.

If enough air pressure is applied to the brake light switch, then it may potentially leak, causing the internal electrical contacts to become jammed.

Jammed electrical contacts in the brake light switch can result into the brake lights to remaining illuminated, or failing to illuminate. Either of these can increase the risk of a crash.

In response to this, Bendix notified owners, and dealers and they will replace the brake light switch free of charge.

There have been no reported incidents thus far.
