Former White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that she is running for governor of Arkansas in the 2022 election.
Sanders served as deputy White House press secretary before taking over as press secretary after Sean Spicer resigned.
Sanders featured her career highlights while in the White House and called for an end to violence and return to peaceful protest in her campaign video.
“As governor, I will defend our right to be free of socialism and tyranny, your Second Amendment right to keep your family safe, and your freedom of speech and religious liberty. Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what’s right, not what’s politically correct or convenient,” said Sanders.
Sarah is the former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and has been expected to run for the office after leaving the White House last 2019.
Sanders would be running against two state elected officials, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin and state Attorney General Leslie Rutledge in the Republican primary race to succeed current Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
