Indian and Chinese soldiers have clashed again in the Sikkim state in northeast India just months after the recent ceasefire.

A Chinese patrol allegedly tried to enter Indian territory and was forced back by Indian troops.

The Indian Army claimed that it was only a minor incident that had been resolved.

“It is clarified that there was a minor face-off at Naku La area of North Sikkim on 20 January 2021 and the same was resolved by local commanders as per established protocols,” said the Indian Army.

Beijing warned that the two sides must avoid any escalation and that they are committed to keeping peace in the region.

Both sides have not yet released any official figures from the clash but Indian state media reported that some personnel were injured.
