North Korea showcased a developmental ballistic missile designed to be launched from submarine platforms during a recent military parade.

The parade was held in Kim Il Sung Square after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un vowed maximum efforts to bolster the country’s nuclear and missile program to counter alleged US hostility.

The North Korean Central News Agency said that troops marched alongside a convoy of North Korea’s advanced strategic weapons, including the sub missile which was claimed to be the “world’s mightiest”.

“The world’s most powerful weapon, submarine-launch ballistic missile, entered the square one after another, powerfully demonstrating the might of the revolutionary armed forces,” said the KCNA.

Joseph Dempsey, research associate for defense and military analysis at the International Institute for Strategic Studies explained on Twitter that the missile resembled the earlier produced KN-24 missile which was similar to the U.S. Army’s MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System.
