Malaysian Authorities Seize Pakistan Air Boeing 777

Malaysian authorities have seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 at Kuala Lumpur Airport due to a legal dispute between the carrier and a firm which is still pending in a UK court.

Malaysian authorities have seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)  Boeing 777 at Kuala Lumpur Airport due to a legal dispute between the carrier and a firm which is still pending in a UK court.

“A PIA aircraft has been held back by a local court in Malaysia taking one-sided decision pertaining to a legal dispute between PIA and another party pending in a UK court,” said the PIA.

Despite the seizure, the PIA reassured its passengers that they would be transferred and will have their needs attended to.

According to Malaysian media, the plane was seized on the orders of a local Malaysian court because the carrier did not pay aircraft lease dues.

PIA reportedly leased two aircraft, including the seized Boeing-777 aircraft, from a Vietnamese company in 2015 and has not paid yet.

“It is an unacceptable situation and PIA has engaged the support from the Government of Pakistan to take up this matter using diplomatic channels,” added PIA.
