Congresswoman Ilhan Omar Announces New Articles Of Impeachment for Trump

Rep. Ilhan Omar said she is drafting articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in response to his incitement of the attempted insurrection at the Capitol.

Rep. Ilhan Omar said she is drafting articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in response to his incitement of the insurrection at the Capitol.

“I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment. Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate,” said Omar on Twitter.

Omar was one of many lawmakers that were trapped at the Capitol after Trump supporters managed to breach the entryways and gathered outside the Chambers.

“Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate. We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath,” said Omar.

A simple majority vote is all it takes to impeach someone in the House, but a two-thirds majority Senate vote is required to convict someone.

Despite the Articles of impeachment being drawn up, Trump only has 14 days left in his seat.
