Sudan has signed the Abraham Accords in a US-brokered deal on Wednesday, which will officially normalize relations with Israel.

Sudan is the third state to sign the normalization deal following the UAE and Bahrain.

Sudan Justice Minister Nasredeen Abdulbari signed the deal with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, just days before President Trump leaves office.

The US Embassy Khartoum tweeted “We congratulate the civilian-led transitional government on its signature today of the Abraham Accords Declaration, which will help further Sudan on its transformative path to stability, security, and economic opportunity.”

“The agreement allows Sudan, Israel and other signers of the Abraham Accords to build mutual trust and increase cooperation in the region,” the embassy added.

Prime Minister of Sudan Abdalla Hamdok. and the US secretary also signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will extend a bridge loan to Sudan to help settle its $1.2 billion arrears to the World Bank.

This, after the US removed Sudan from its list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
