Possible 9/11 Style Attack Threat Broadcasted Through Air Traffic Comms

Air traffic controllers in New York have received a radio broadcast threatening to fly an aircraft into the US Capitol building as revenge for the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

Air traffic controllers in New York have received a radio broadcast threatening to fly an aircraft into the US Capitol building as revenge for the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

“We are flying a plane into the Capitol on Wednesday. Soleimani will be avenged,” said a digitized voice from an unknown source.

According to CBS who first reported on the story, traffic controllers were advised to raise warnings if a plane deviated from its flight path after the threat was heard.

The NCTC said it was currently working alongside the FAA, TSA, and FBI to investigate the threat.

US officials claimed what the air traffic controllers heard was not a credible threat but consider the incident as a major breach of the radio transmission protocol.

CBS sources said that the Pentagon and other agencies were briefed regarding the broadcast and believed that the threat was designed to suggest attacking Capitol on the same day Congress will count the Electoral College results.

The FBI has not yet released a statement on the incident but vowed to take any threat to public safety seriously.
