The DC mayor and speaker’s office have requested help in clearing Capitol Hill of protesters who have stormed it during the electoral vote counting.

The DC mayor and speaker’s office have requested help in clearing Capitol Hill of protesters who have stormed it during the electoral vote counting.

Despite the escalating situation inside the Capitol, the Department of Defense (DOD) declined to deploy the National Guard.

Protesters have reportedly broken into the Senate Chamber while one got up on the dais and shouted “Trump won that election” and the rest chanted “where are they?”

Federal Protective Service and Secret Service were deployed to the Capitol and are now gathering outside.

Update:

President Donald Trump has finally ordered the deployment of the National Guard.

The entire DC Guard unit was activated while the Virginia National Guard and 200 state troopers are on their way to the Capitol.
