Alibaba Owner Jack Ma Missing for Two Months

Alibaba executive chairman Jack Ma has reportedly not made a public appearance in over two months amid investigations from Chinese financial regulators.

Alibaba executive chairman Jack Ma has reportedly not made a public appearance in over two months amid investigations from Chinese financial regulators.

Public speculations started after Ma failed to appear as a judge in the final episode of his own show, Africa’s Business Heroes last November.

Ma’s photograph was also removed from the judging webpage, and he was left out of a promotional video.

Ma’s disappearance started after made a candid speech criticizing China’s regulators and its state-owned banks for stifling innovation
and called for a revamp to extend financial services to more small firms and individuals.

Last December, Chinese regulators launched an antitrust investigation into Alibaba and introduced regulations that halted Ant Group’s initial public offering.

Ma was accused of anti-competitive behavior and preventing suppliers from selling on other platforms.
