The rescue teams have spent the night scouring the rubble of the damaged buildings in the search for survivors.
Petrinja’s mayor have reported that about half the town had been destroyed and there were people that had been pulled from the rubble.
Many were too afraid to return to their homes overnight due to the aftershocks as it caused more damage.
Some people had to sleep in their cars or stay with relatives in other areas.
Over 200 people were sheltered in a military barracks.
