Avalanches due to blizzards killed 11 people according to the search teams of the Iran Red Crescent Society.

The Red Crescent teams found 11 bodies in the mountains of Kolak Chal, Darabad and Ahar. They officially declared the completion of the three-day search and rescue operations on Sunday. 

Over the weekend, several climbers went missing due to severe weather which triggered avalanches in the Alborz mountains in capital Tehran. 

The organization has deployed 20 search teams which consists of 100 rescuers to save the climbers. 

The Red Crescent teams were able to save 14 climbers after being stranded. 

The Iran Meteorological Organization has announced severe weather and warned of snow and avalanches since Thursday.
