Macron Tests Positive for COVID-19, Isolated

The Elysee Palace announced that French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Elysee Palace announced that French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for COVID-19.

“The President of the Republic has been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 today. In accordance with current health regulations applicable to all, the President of the Republic will isolate himself for 7 days. He continues to work and carry out his activities remotely,” said the Palace.

The Palace said Macron, took a test as soon as the first symptoms manifested but did not specify what symptoms he was experiencing.

Authorities are now in the process of identifying anyone who has come into close contact with Macron but no names have been disclosed yet.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that he would also work from isolation because of his recent proximity with Mr. Macron.

Macron recently attended a European Union summit last week and met with the prime minister of Portugal last Wednesday. 

Macron also announced that he will cancel all his upcoming trips, including a visit to Lebanon.
