IOC Accused of Disregarding China Human Rights Violations for 2022 Beijing Games

An organization that has represented the ethnic minorities in China has been accusing the International Olympic Committee of not tending to the widespread and systematic human rights violations as the country is preparing to hold the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

An organization that has represented the ethnic minorities in China has been accusing the International Olympic Committee of not tending to the widespread and systematic human rights violations as the country is preparing to hold the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The International Olympic Committee has stressed that it organizes a sports event and is not responsible for the domestic policies in the host country.

China and other authoritarian states have continued to become favored venues for the Olympics and other large scale events because they never face any public opposition and they rarely question the costs needed.

The International Olympic Committee has awarded the 2008 Summer Olympics to Beijing.

They claimed that the event would significantly improve human rights in China.

Meanwhile, the organization has reminded the International Olympic Committee that the human rights conditions are worse compared to 12 years ago with China operating as an “Orwellian state.”
