Indian authorities arrested the headmaster of a government-run primary school at the Bhadradri Kothagudem district in Telangana after parents accused him of repeatedly sexually assaulting at least five female students aged between seven and 11, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the 40-year-old Dodda Sunil had sexually abused the minor girl within the school premises since August this year.
Police said that the school headmaster allegedly forced his victims to watch pornographic videos and threatened to harm them if they tell anyone about the malicious crimes he committed.
The incident only came to light after one of the sexually abused girls fell ill and disclosed her disturbing experience to her mother while undergoing treatment.
“Though I kept asking her, she never told me anything about why she did not want to attend his classes. Then she recently fell ill and was unable to walk properly,” the mother told The Times of India during an interview.
“Even then, I did not suspect that such a thing would have happened. Only after continuously asking her for days, she told me about being sexually abused,” she added.
After receiving the complaint from the hospitalized victim’s parents, police also discovered that Sunil had sexually assaulted more of his minor students.
“The teacher has been arrested for sexual assault on minor girls of a school at Chintavare village of Laxmidevipalli Mandal,” said Sunil Dutt, a police superintendent in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district. “One of the girl’s parents complained and during the investigation, we got to know that he has exploited four other girls as well.”
Indian police arrested Sunil late Wednesday and have registered a case against him.
