Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped amid optimism among investors about a potential government stimulus and bets on more signals of easy monetary policy.

On Tuesday, the Dow Jones jumped 1.1 percent, close at 30,199.31, while the S&P 500 jumped 1.3 percent, to close at 3,694.62, and the Nasdaq 100 climbed 1.3 percent, or 155.02 points, to close at 12,595.06.

In Asia, the HSI fell 0.69 percent to be at 26207.29, while Japan’s NIKKEI fell 0.17 percent to be at 26687.84 and China’s SHANGHAI fell 0.06 percent to be at 3367.23. In European markets, the STOXX fell 0.07 percent to be at 3072.61, and the FTSE fell 0.28 percent to be at 6513.32.

In commodities, oil prices jumped 0.70 percent to be at $47,32 per barrel, while natural gas prices fell 0.93 percent to be at $2,66 per BTU,

Meanwhile, platinum prices jumped 0.42 percent to be at $1,043 per ounce while copper prices fell 0.04 percent to be at $3,54 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.04 percent to be at $1,856 per ounce and silver prices fell 0.06 percent to be at $24,63 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.1093 percent to be at $0,8224 per US dollar, while the Yen fell 0.2980 percent or 0.3100 points and the Sterling fell 0.6530 percent to be at $0,7455 per US dollar.
