Kabul Deputy Governor Dies in IED Attack

Mahboobullah Mohebi, the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul was killed with his secretary by a roadside magnetic IED.

Mahboobullah Mohebi, the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul was killed with his secretary by a roadside magnetic IED.

The interior ministry said Mohebi was travelling to work with his security detail when the attack occurred.

Aside from Mohebi and his secretary, two bodyguards were injured by the blast.

Aside from the IED attack, local media outlet TOLO reported that unidentified gunmen attacked policemen who were warming themselves by a fire on the outskirts of Kabul, leaving one dead.

“This act of the terrorists is a war crime and inhumane,” said Afghan military spokesman Tariq Arian.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but Arian said that terrorists from previous attacks have already been arrested.
