UK to Suspend US Tariffs over State Subsidies for Aircraft Manufacturers

Britain is planning to suspend retaliatory tariffs that were implemented on goods from the United States as part of a disagreement over aircraft subsidies from January 1.

Britain is planning to suspend retaliatory tariffs that were implemented on goods from the United States as part of a disagreement over aircraft subsidies from January 1. 

This decision shows Britain’s separation from the European Union trade policy and it also promotes closer ties with the United States.

The multi-billion dollar tariff battle between the European Union and the United States relates to a long-running row over the state subsidies for the manufacturers of the aircraft Boeing and Airbus. 

Britain will suspend the tariffs in order to convince the United States to reach a settlement. 

Meanwhile, the European Union remains pessimistic about the changes of an abrupt shift in policy from the United States.
