Military Searches for Crashed F-16 Pilot in Michigan

Authorities are searching for an F-16 and its pilot from the Wisconsin Air National Guard after it crashed at approximately 8 p.m local time in Delta County, Michigan.

Authorities are searching for an F-16 and its pilot from the Wisconsin Air National Guard after it crashed at approximately 8 p.m local time in Delta County, Michigan.

The plane was part of the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s which was based in the Truax Field Air National Guard Base.

“The 115th Fighter Wing participated in a coordinated search effort with local emergency responders, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other government agencies overnight. Search and rescue efforts on the ground, in the air, and in the water continue,” announced the 115th. 

The F-16 was reportedly participating in a training mission when it crashed due to unknown causes. 

The crash site was secured first by local emergency responders, but were replaced eventually by military personnel.

The whereabouts of the pilot are still unknown while search efforts were reportedly hampered due to poor network coverage in the area.
