Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped because of a boost from the healthcare sector on positive COVID-19 vaccine news, while uncertainty over fresh fiscal stimulus remained intact.

The US stock market jumped because of a boost from the healthcare sector on positive COVID-19 vaccine news, while uncertainty over fresh fiscal stimulus remained intact.

On Tuesday, the Dow Jones jumped 0.4 percent to close at 30,173.88, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.3 percent to close at 3,702.25, and the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.5 percent to close at 12,582.77.

In Asia, the HSI fell 0.76 percent to be at 26304.56, while Japan’s NIKKEI fell 0.30 percent to be at 26467.08, and China’s SHANGHAI fell 0.19 percent to be at 3410.18. In European markets the STOXX jumped .12 percent to be at 3091.83, and the FTSE jumped 0.05 percent to be at 65558.82.

In commodities, oil prices jumped 0.11 percent to be at $45,65 per barrel, while natural gas prices jumped 1.13 percent to be at $2,43 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices fell .05 percent to be at $1,036 per ounce while copper prices jumped 0.06 percent to be at $3,5 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.01 percent to be at $1,875 per ounce and silver prices fell 0.01 percent to be at $24,74 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro jumped 0.0484 percent to be at $0,8261 per US dollar, while the Yen jumped 0.0961 percent or 0.1000 points, and the Sterling jumped 0.2007 percent to be at $0,7488 per US dollar.
