Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, has planned to take the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to court for banning him from  Olympics events over discrimination towards athletes.

Lukashenko has ordered Olympic chiefs on the Belarus National Olympic Committee (NOC) to target athletes over their political views.

Ever since Lukashenko’s re-election to a sixth term in August, Belarus is undergoing one of the most serious political crisis in modern history, with the increase of demonstrations and authorities cracking down those who oppose.

A number of the Belarusian athletes agree with the criticism made against Lukashenko and have demanded an end to the crackdown.
