Barcelona’s law enforcement authorities arrested a man who intentionally crashed a car into a store located between the streets of Arango and Padilla on Friday morning, leaving two people injured.
In a statement, the Mossos d’Esquadra said that the man was “under the influence of alcohol,” pointing out that the two injured are “not in danger.”
Police authorities also explained that this year has seen a higher incidence of car accidents in Barcelona, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown measures imposed by regional authorities to contain its spread.
According to a TV3 report, the man was the owner of the store, which has been occupied by two families of squatters or “okupas” over the last few days.
The media outlet pointed out that one of these families are related to the owner, adding that it remains unclear whether authorities are going to force the families to leave the store or not.
