Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped despite investors’ fears for a slow economic recovery following reports that Pfizer had slashed the target for the rollout of its COVID-19 vaccine.

The US stock market jumped despite investors’ fears for a slow economic recovery following reports that Pfizer had slashed the target for the rollout of its COVID-19 vaccine.

On Thursday, the Dow Jones rose 0.29 percent, to close at 29,969.52, while the S&P 500 fell 0.06 percent, to close at 3,666.72 and the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.23 percent to close at 12,377.18.

In Asia, the HSI jumped 0.74 percent to be at 26728.50, while Japan’s NIKKEI jumped 0.03 percent to be at 26809.37, and China’s SHANGHAI fell 0.2 percent to be at 3441.14. In European markets, the STOXX fell 0.30 percent to be at 3066.75 and the FTSE jumped 0.42 percent to be at 6490.27.

In commodities, oil prices jumped 0.31 percent to be at $45,78 per barrel, while natural gas prices jumped 1.16 percent to be at $2,54 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices jumped 0.20 percent to be at $1,040 per ounce while copper prices fell 0.06 percent to be at $3,49 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.16 percent to be at $1,844 per ounce and silver prices jumped 0.34 percent to be at $24,22 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.2545 percent to be at $0,8232 per US dollar, while the Yen fell 0.4406 percent or 0.4600 points, and the Sterling fell 0.6684 percent to be at $0,7431 per US dollar.
