Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped as investors in the United States and all over the world hoped for a quick economic recovery amid upbeat vaccine developments and a COVID-19 fiscal package.

The US stock market jumped as investors in the United States and all over the world hoped for a quick economic recovery amid upbeat vaccine developments and a COVID-19 fiscal package.

On Wednesday, the Dow Jones rose 0.2 percent to end at 29,883.79 points, while the S&P 500 gained 0.18 percent to close at 3,669.01, and the Nasdaq 100 slipped 0.05 percent to close at 12,349.37.

In Asia, the HSI fell 0.13 percent to be at 26532.58, while Japan’s NIKKEI jumped 0.05 percent to be at 26800.98 and China´s SHANGHAI fell 0.07 percent to be at 3449.38. In European markets, the STOXX jumped 0.22 percent to be at 3075.98, and the FTSE jumped 1.23 percent to be at 6463.39.

In commodities, oil prices jumped 1.62 percent to be at $45,27 per barrel, while natural gas prices fell 0.14 percent to be at $2,78 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices jumped 0.58 percent to be at $1,018 per ounce while copper prices jumped 0.20 percent to be at $3,50 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.16 percent to be at $1,883 per ounce and silver prices jumped 0.44 percent to be at $24,18 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.2414 percent to be at $0,8264 per US dollar, while the Yen jumped 0.2205 percent or 0.2300 and the Sterling jumped 0.4025 percent to be at $0,7483 per US dollar.
