Dutch police launched an investigation into the stabbing of two individuals inside a shop in The Hague, authorities and local media said on Wednesday.

According to witnesses, the suspect of the stabbing spree also set fire to the supermarket before fleeing the crime scene.

In a tweet, police said the injured victims were sent to a nearby hospital.

A heavy police presence has been dispatched around the area of the knife attack. A manhunt is underway to find the suspect.

A spokeswoman for the police said the motive behind the stabbing is still unknown.

Authorities are still unable to establish whether the knife attack and the fire at the store were related.
