Twitter has suspended a Thai royalist account linked to an influence campaign of the palace.

Twitter account @jitarsa_school has been suspended after an analysis found that said account was linked to thousands of other accounts created to proliferate posts favorable to the monarchy.

Reuters analysis revealed that they found thousands of tweets which an expert said were from accounts spreading pro-monarchy messages, in efforts to oppose the anti-government protests. Said twitter account had more than 48,000 followers, according to the review.

Twitter said, “The account in question was suspended for violating our rules on spam and platform manipulation.”

The review also found out that the accounts following @jitarsa_school were mostly promoting royalist hashtags.

Reuters said, “A sample of 559 retweets of the account’s tweets were virtually all from accounts with bot-like characteristics, according to research by social media consultancy Drone Emprit for Reuters.”

Reuters also reviewed army documents showing evidences of an organized pro-monarchy information campaign on Twitter.
