The Italian United Syndicate (USI) called for a general strike of Italian public sector workers for November 25, involving education, health, and transport workers.

The Italian United Syndicate (USI) called for a general strike of Italian public sector workers for November 25, involving education, health, and transport workers.

The USI trade union members said that the strike was for improved health and safety measures, workers’ rights, and an end to the privatization of public sector services.

Italy’s public transport network is also looking to hold a four-hour strike from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm on the same day.

The general strike is expected to disrupt healthcare, transport, and schools on the 25th.

“A real debate is necessary, free from the usual games of power and from the blackmail of the employers’ associations and the yellow unions in tow, with a single objective: to re-discuss and restructure the entire public transport system and that of all essential services,“ said USI’s announcement.
