Thalys Train Attacker, Thwarted by Americans, Goes on Trial in Paris

A suspected Islamist gunman who opened fire aboard on a train while traveling through northern Europe goes on trial on Monday in the French capital.

A suspected Islamist gunman who opened fire aboard on a train while traveling through northern Europe goes on trial on Monday in the French capital. 

Moroccan national Ayoub el Khazzani is accused of attempted murder with intent to execute an act of terrorism.

Khazzani faces life in prison if convicted. 

A French citizen and three (3) other Americans, two of whom were in the military at the time, disarmed Khazzani before he could harm anyone. 

According to Prosecutors, Khazzani’s attack was planned. 

Khazzani allegedly listened to an audio that was posted on social media that was calling on Muslims to take up arms in the name of the Prophet.
