Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Gains

The US stock market jumped as news of another promising COVID-19 vaccine bolstered hopes among investors in the United States and all over the world about a quick economic recovery.

On Monday, the Dow Jones gained 470.63 points, or 1.6 percent, to close at 29,950.44, while the S&P 500 climbed 1.2 percent to 3,626.91, posting an all-time closing high, and the Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.8 percent to 11,924.13.

In Asia, the HSI jumped 0.86 percent to be at 26381.67, while Japan’s NIKKEI jumped 2.05 percent to be at 25906.93, and China’s SHANGHAI jumped 1.11 percent to be at 3346.97. In European markets, the STOXX jumped 1.01 percent to be at 3081.88, and the FTSE jumped 1.66 percent to be at 6421.29.

In commodities, oil prices jumped 0.05 percent to be at $41,36 per barrel, while natural gas prices fell 0.48 percent to be at $2,68 per BTU.,

Meanwhile, platinum prices fell 0.17 percent to be at 925,90 per ounce while copper prices jumped 0.02 percent to be at $3,22 per pound. Also, gold prices fell 0.15 percent to be at 1,885 per ounce and silver prices fell 0.17 percent to be at $24,76 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.1301 percent to be at $0,8442 per US dollar, while the Yen fell 0.0478 percent or 0.0500 points and the Sterling fell 0.0264 percent to be at $0,7581 per US dollar.
