Iraq and Iran Hold Talks to Enhance Military Cooperation

Iraqi defense minister Juma Inad Saadoun visited Iran on Saturday to hold talks with Iranian defense minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami .

Iraqi defense minister Juma Inad Saadoun visited Iran on Saturday to hold talks with Iranian defense minister  Brigadier General  Amir Hatami . 

The defense ministers have discussed developing their defense and military cooperation. The purpose of the visit is also to discuss strengthening security for both Middle Eastern nations. 

“We consider the development of Iraq as a prerequisite for establishing stability and security in that country, and we are ready to participate in the reconstruction and development of Iraq,” Hatami said on Saturday.

Saadoun also sat down with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.

 “During this meeting, issues related to the defense industry and security of the two countries’ shared borders, as well as issues related to cooperation and exchange of experiences, joint military exercises and training issues were discussed, and God willing, this cooperation will be developed,” Bagheri said on Sunday.
