Tokyo Olympic Officials Prepared to Hold Test Events Beginning in March

Tokyo Olympics organizers were encouraged after a gymnastics meet over the week and are now willing to hold test events early next year.

Tokyo Olympics organizers were encouraged after a gymnastics meet over the week and are now willing to hold test events early next year.

The meet on Sunday featured 22 Chinese, American and Russian athletes entering Japan and competing in Tokyo.

Thousands of fans have attended the event.

Holding the delayed Paralympics and Tokyo Olympics will be more difficult than a one-day event with a few dozen athletes.

There were no staff or athletes that were reported to test positive for the virus at the meet.

The gymnasts who have entered Japan were quarantined at home.

In Tokyo, they were isolated in hotel rooms and were tested daily for COVID-19.

The International Olympic Committee, the Japanese government and Tokyo Olympic officials have been trying to convince the world that the postponed Olympic games can continue on July 23 despite so much uncertainty due to the ongoing pandemic.
