ISIS-Affiliated Terrorists Behead at Least 50 in Mozambique

Islamist terrorists with links to ISIS have burned a village and beheaded over 50 people in the Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique.

Islamist terrorists with links to ISIS  have burned a village and beheaded over 50 people in the Cabo Delgado province of Mozambique.

According to Bernardino Rafael, commander-general of Mozambique’s police, the terrorists attacked several villages in the districts of Miudumbe and Macomia, went on a killing spree, abducted women and children, and burned down homes.

The militants reportedly used a football pitch in Muatide village as an execution ground, where they decapitated and chopped the bodies of the villagers.

The state-owned Mozambique News Agency reported that witnesses claimed that the terrorists chanted “Allahu Akbar” when the village of  Nanjaba was attacked.

Last April, 50 people were also beheaded and shot dead in an attack on another village in Cabo Delgado.

Amnesty International reported last month that the violence in the region has displaced 300,000 people and deprived 712,000 of humanitarian assistance.

Cabo Delgado has faced insurgency for around three years, which was attributed neglect of the region by the national government and the spread of radical Islamists in the region.
