Armed Militants Attack Tribal Outpost in Bagdhad, 11 dead

Armed militants killed 11 people after they threw grenades and fired on state-backed tribal Hashed forces stationed at Al-Radwaniyah, on the southern outskirts of Baghdad.

Armed militants killed 11 people after they threw grenades and fired on state-backed tribal Hashed forces stationed at Al-Radwaniyah, on the southern outskirts of Baghdad.

“IS attacked the monitoring tower, killing five members of the tribal Hashed and six local people who had come to help repel the attack,” said AFP’s security source.

Among those who were killed, five were tribal militiamen and six were locals who came to help repel the attack.

There were also eight people who were wounded in the attack and were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The attackers reportedly used four vehicles to attack the outpost and have not yet been properly identified yet by authorities.

Despite earlier assumptions that it was an IS attack, the group has not yet made a statement or claimed responsibility.

Iraqi authorities have conducted an investigation on the attack and have launched a manhunt operation.
