Stock Market Closes Trading Session with Mixed Gains

The US stock market closed the trading session with mixed gains as Democratic nominee Joe Biden edged closer to victory in a highly-disputed presidential election.

The US stock market closed the trading session with mixed gains as Democratic nominee Joe Biden edged closer to victory in a highly-disputed presidential election.

On Friday, the Dow Jones fell 60.93 points, or 0.21 percent, to 28,329.25, while the S&P 500 gained 1.27 points, or 0.04 percent, to 3,511.72 and the Nasdaq 100 added 15.86 points, or 0.13 percent, to 11,906.79.

In Asia, the HSI jumped 0.07 percent or 17.05 points, while Japan’s NIKKEI jumped 0.91 percent or 219.95 points and China’s SHANGHAI fell 0.24 percent or 7.97 points. In European markets, the STOX fell 0.24 percent or 6.99 points and the FTSE jumped 0.07 percent or 3.54 points.

In commodities, oil prices fell 4.38 percent to be at $37,09 per barrel, while natural gas prices fell 1.90 percent to be at $2,89 per BTU.

Meanwhile, platinum prices fell 0.01 percent to be at $899,30 per ounce while copper prices jumped 0.16 percent to be at $3,16 per pound. Also, gold prices jumped 0.14 percent to be at $1,954 per ounce and silver prices jumped 0.19 percent to be at $25,71 per ounce.

In currencies, the Euro fell 0.4850 percent to be at $0,8413 per US dollar, while the Yen fell 0.2126 percent or 0.2200 points and the Sterling fell 0.0657 percent to be at $0,7601 per US dollar.
